Monolithic Slabs
Monolithic Slabs
If you are building, consider the benefit of adding monolithic slabs as your foundation. At Brey Industries, our team of licensed and insured professionals can help you determine if this is one of the solutions that can benefit your property. Not only does it help to reduce project timelines, but it can also lower the costs you are paying for the foundation slabs themselves.
What Are Monolithic Slab Foundations?
Monolithic slabs are unique from traditional models. In a traditional foundation, you have the footings along with the foundation walls and the slab itself. The footings are deep within the ground and provide for stability and overall integrity. They help to keep the cold temperatures from getting into the property as well. The walls and the slab itself, along with the footings, must be poured and allowed to set individually, one after the other, to ensure the most stable outcome. With monolithic slab foundations, this is not the case.
In this method, the foundation slabs are only about four inches thick, with some slightly larger. This means that there is less excavation work necessary to pour the foundation. It sits on a gravel bed to improve drainage. This type of structure is not ideal for all properties, but for some, it can be a cost and a time saver.
Our team at Brey Industries can find out if monolithic slabs are approved by your local building codes. If so, this could be one of the best ways to reduce the time and costs associated with laying that foundation.
